Everybody’s channeling fall right now, but our house is deffffffinitely still in summer mode. It’s HOT, especially in the sunroom. On today’s to-do list: getting ahead on some work projects, steam cleaning (I always wait until we have more than a few spots to do before breaking out our portable cleaner, that way it’s worth it 😂🧼), vacuuming the heck out of our guest room (pictured here) since the kitten has filled it with her fluff, watching college football (YAY!🏈), batch cooking, and playing with our fur babes 🙌🏼 Happy Saturday, my friends!!!

Documenting the first 48 hours home with Gladys, our new rescue kitten! She’s a 7-week-old lynx point Siamese who we think is actually related to our 1-year-old flame point Siamese who passed away unexpectedly last month during emergency surgery 💔🐈 Gladys was rescued from the same home situation that Joe was in, so chances are good that she shares a blood line with him. Our hearts were broken when we lost Joe, but now it feels bittersweet and maybe meant to be that we get to grow our family with his real sister/cousin/whatever she may be 😌🐾 Our dog Chessie is tolerating her new baby sister well, but Marlo, our 1.5-year-old cat, is taking longer to accept her. Please good vibes that everyone is feeling settled and bonded soon! Welcome home, Gladys—you are a treasure and the perfect balm to heal our hearts 💕💕💕Also, though, please stop biting me so hard 😂

Whoops…I accidentally pre-trimmed one of my pane

Whoops…I accidentally pre-trimmed one of my panels too short while wallpapering the bathroom, and had been meaning to fix it for months 🤫🫢😆 The solution I came up with was pretty simple: I decided to cover the bad cut with decorative trim! I found a fluted design that covered the bad panel, cut it to size on my saw, attached it to the wall using a brad nailer, and then caulked/painted it to finish 🧡 Now I don’t think you’d ever know that the mistake was there! Will you keep my secret?? Also, I think this is the last lingering video I have of Joe acting as my little project assistant 😭🐈🐾 I miss that boy every single day…

I think we only have about 50% of the pieces you see in this photo (the rest were sold on FB Marketplace or were donated to my parents’ house when they moved here in 2019), but I still looooooove this setup from our old house 🧡👌🏼 Who else changes their rooms around at a breakneck pace? I’m pretty sure I’d redesign rooms just as fast even if it wasn’t part of my job 😂 Refreshing my home views makes me happier than pretty much ANYTHING else in life. Can you relate? How often do you change things up at your house?

When my parents moved here in 2019, I immediately jumped into action to help them design their Dutch Colonial home 🏡💕🧡 We played it safe to start, but now they’re craving more color and pattern to help make the space feel more unique. We’re still taking it slow with the design, adding really special doses of personality where it feels right, and this month Mom and I set our sights on the alcove wall in her separate dressing room/vanity area 💄💕🫧 I convinced her to paint the once-monotone walls inside the window niche a bold teal color to make it more of an architectural feature (“Restful” from Sherwin-Williams), and then I created a focal point using peel-and-stick “Botanique Bliss” wallpaper from @fancywalls.eu in a custom teal colorway to complement the new paint. Now Mom’s dressing room feels like an EXTRA special place to get ready for the day, and it has already inspired other pattern-rich projects in the rest of their house. I’m thinking a day trip to one of our favorite wineries, some secondhand window shopping, a little bit of at-home plant maintenance, reading more of my current book, and maybe I should FINALLY paint the raw primed folding door that we put up in the kitchen a year ago??? To be honest, I really struggled to design our tin

To be honest, I really struggled to design our tiny main bedroom. It has taken nearly two whole years to figure out the right size/color furniture, room arrangement, color palette, and complementary wall treatments, but I’m finally feeling more settled. Turns out that the room just needed a few strategic pops of pink to make it all come together…💕💕💕

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but I need to fully commit to having a good week this week after having had so many rotten ones back in July. I’m going to keep myself busy, try to one-up my old self on creative projects, and just generally not allow negative thoughts to invade my psyche. If you’ve been looking for a sign that it’s time to get out of your own rut, consider this post your challenge do exactly that. We’ve GOT this 💪🏼🧡⭐️

I recently watched a @magnolianetwork @youtube video detailing three timeless hostess gift ideas, as styled by @amyneunsinger and @katemartindalestylist, and just HAD to recreate it for myself! The concepts are so simple yet elegant, and I love how special they feel—much more so than the typical bottle of hostess gift wine!

I sourced the items for my own versions from local antique stores and boutiques to give them a little personal flair, and can attest to just how simple they were to put together.

🌿 Fresh Herb Bouquet: For this one, place a handful of various cut herb stems into a vintage vase, and you’re done! Fresh herbs are easy for your hostess to repurpose for her own personal dishes later in the week, plus the fragrance of fresh cut herbs just can’t be beat. Think of it like a bouquet of flowers, but more functional.
🥖 Wrapped Herbs And Bread Board: Here’s another herby idea! Wrap an artisan bread loaf, fresh cut herb sprigs, and a new or vintage bread board up with a reusable oversized kitchen towel. If the party is charcuterie- or cheese-related, the bread and herbs can be used right away at the party!
☕️ Vintage Specialty Tea Set: For this hostess gift, I filled a wooden box with crinkle paper and added specialty loose leaf tea packaged in a clear bag knotted with velvet ribbon. The vintage tea cup I also included came from @factoryantiquemall, which makes for a good story to tell our hostess.

Thank you all so much for your incredible support the past few days💔💕I’ve read every single message and comment, and am feeling so loved and seen. We are happily childfree so our pets are our kids. To lose one leaves a giant hole in our hearts, and this is the fifth loss we’ve experienced in the past four years. I can’t help wondering what we’ve done to deserve this kind of fate, BUT I know it means we have that much extra space to adopt more rescue pets into our home and hearts, and that makes it all worth it. Sorry to ramble but I’m just not functioning at 100 percent right now. I’ll be back soon to share home updates!!! Thank you again for all of your love and support 🧡🐾

I have some very sad family news to share…We wer

I have some very sad family news to share…We were forced to say goodbye to our sweet Joe this past Friday. He had emergency surgery due to a urinary blockage and there was, devastatingly, nothing we could do. Our hearts are absolutely shattered and we’re staying quietly at home holding our other girls close 🐕🐈‍⬛💔 I’m going to take the week off from blogging as I process the shock of his passing, but I hope to be back to posting soon. Thank you for all of your love and support during his short life (he was one year and one month old), and please help your own local special needs rescue animals. They have SO MUCH love to give, and I would do it all over again for our Joe if we had the chance. I don’t really know how to do life without his shadow by my side, but we’ll always have his memory with us. Hold your pets close…And please send us all the strength you can 🧡💕

When I first move into a new space, I tend to pain

When I first move into a new space, I tend to paint the walls a light neutral color to help my brain process what the ultimate vision should be. A year and a half into living here in our new home, and I figured out what our retro living room needed: darkness! I ultimately decided to paint the entire room the rich moody green paint color that I had used just on the fireplace wall, and now I think everything in the room pops so much more 🙌🏼☺️🪴 The contrast this new dark paint added is incredible to live with every day.
