Our Eclectic & Colorful Townhouse

Welcome to our old home! I am so excited to have you stop by for a virtual tour. If you haven’t already gathered from my daily posts (and an extra special “Welcome!” to you if you are new to the blog) we used to live in a townhouse—photographed below—but have since moved into a mid-century A-frame brick ranch house circa 1962. Scroll on for a peek into our old space so that you can get a sense of our color-loving, vintage-hoarding style. Enjoy!

Barbara Toynes - I loved the tour of your home it is beautiful. I really liked how you have the living room set up with the seating area at an angle, this really works well in the room. I also especially liked the yellow floral or print chair in the living room, do you know where you got it from?ReplyCancel

dreamgreendiy@gmail.com - Thank you so much!! I’m glad you like it! The yellow print chair is from Target 🙂ReplyCancel

Jan R. - Just wondering if you would buy the Target chair again. I have read quite a number of reviews where people say it looks worn really quickly and isn’t very comfortable.
Need a new chair in the living room and love this style but that is a major purchase for us and don’t want to regret it. Thanks for your great blog!ReplyCancel

        • July 9, 2015 - 7:18 pm

Carrie - I would buy it again! I’m not picky though. I suppose it looked a little worn after a few years, but not anymore than any other chair we’ve used daily for several years! I actually would say that it held up remarkably well having come from Target! I would definitely buy it again =)ReplyCancel

clong - Love the living room furniture arrangement; great reminder that you can actually gain space by pulling furniture away from the walls. Going to get the felt sliders out tonight after work and see if I can set my living room up in a similar fashion. Would not have occurred to me without seeing your lovely photo.ReplyCancel

    Kate Meshkinfam - Hi Carrie,
I picked up a copy of the Burg newspaper today, and saw your article…which lead me to your blog. You have a great sense of style! We just moved here to Lynchburg from Michigan and are just settling in to our new house. I have a design problem that I could use some help with.
Our living room has these huge built in bookcases on both sides of the fireplace. They’re great, but I have NO idea how to style them so they look nice. I’ve googled it, looked at endless pictures, and tried to follow tips but I just can’t seem to get them so that I like the way they look. I’ve already tried to alternate depths, heights, and shapes. Do you have any other tips that might help me?
    Thanks so much!

Janna - Hi – I would like to use the a Endless Circles stencil that you used on the feature wall in your living room in my daughter’s bedroom. I’m worried that it will be hard to line up the lines when you repeat the pattern. Can you comment on the difficulty?ReplyCancel

    • February 6, 2015 - 8:16 am

Carrie - Lining up the pattern is very easy! All you have to do is overlap the pattern beside it and the stencil lines up perfectly. I would say the most difficult part is just waiting for each stencil square to dry before moving on to the next, but the finished look is so worth the effort =)ReplyCancel
