I have a feeling that the Internet is going to cancel me for this, but we decided to rip down the vintage 1960s wallpaper in our main bedroom 🫢🧡 It was sweet, but just not our style, and I realized that the busy pattern was keeping me from being able to relax in our bedroom—not ideal! Here are some of my wallpaper removing quick tips… * Use a perforating tool to help punch through the paper and allow steam/solution to get through to the glue underneath. * Spray heavily with a liquid paste remover, or soak it with a sponge saturated with hot water and dish detergent if you want to skip chemicals. Let sit for 15 minutes before attacking with your scraper. * A steamer helps cut through the glue, too, but just know you’ll have to be patient and go SLOW working on small sections at a time! * Be mentally and physically prepared for 60-year old drywall to get pretty damaged from all that soaking and scraping. *Spackle can fix almost any divot, so know that all is not lost if your walls look as rough as ours did! This project will take time, but it’s so worth the finished results... What do you think? Would you have left the retro wallpaper up, or are you into the more simplified look now?
