DIY Pleated Shade Pendant Light

Welcome to a brand new year of creative content here on Dream Green DIY! I’m so thrilled to kick-start 2022 with a new DIY project that anyone can do. In case you missed my New Year’s Day manifesto update, make sure you click back here to read it. The post goes into my plans for home project sharing here on the blog for the next 12 months, and I also admit to a health problem that has made renovating a major struggle for me.

Happily, today’s project is something that practically anyone can do, whether your joints are causing you problems (like mine are) or you’re firing on all cylinders. This DIY Pleated Shade Pendant Light was so easy to put together, and made good use of a secondhand lamp shade that didn’t have a base (my mom took the original base it came with, and paired it with a different shade at her house). I kept the pleated shade, which was uselessly sitting in storage, and managed to convert it into a trendy mod light fixture in six quick steps. I’m just as surprised as you are that I pulled it off!

Do you have an old lamp shade that doesn’t currently have a purpose? You can read the full tutorial for my DIY Pleated Shade Pendant Light over on Hunker here. It uses basic supplies (including this nifty light socket kit that allows you to skip any tricky electrical work), and the entire light comes together in about 20 minutes. I’m so glad that I managed to give this old shade a new life, and can’t wait to see how you tweak the design to suit your own naked lamp shade. DIY details this way.
