I’m not generally the type of homemaker who changes out décor entirely when a new season arrives. I work so hard designing our spaces to look just right for everyday life that I hate the idea of swapping things out just for the sake of a new season or holiday. It doesn’t seem all that sustainable to me, personally, and I also don’t have the budget for lots of extra season-specific decorations. That said, there is one type of home accent that I change out each season, and it’s our bedding. That makes sense, though, right? We don’t want to sleep with really heavy winter sheets and comforters this warmer time of the year, so I generally change to lighter linens and fabrics that help keep us cool throughout spring and summer.
This year I decided to switch things way up by laying out a quilt on our bed. I’ve always been a thick comforter girlie, but this year I questioned myself on that habit. With the temperatures continuing to creep up at night, I want to be as cool as possible to get a good night’s rest, so a thin quilt just makes sense. I wish I had thought of doing this a long time ago, especially now that we’ve been enjoying our new PALASSIO “Stripe” quilt set.
We ordered our new quilt in the color “Wheat” to fit our king size bed, and it has been a dream to cuddle into at night. The machine-washable 100% cotton texture is suitable for sensitive skin and is cozy yet cooling. I also love the modern look of the striped stitching. This definitely isn’t a “grandma” style quilt! The linear design fits right in with our sleek mid-century furniture, and I appreciate that the neutral light beige color doesn’t draw your eye away from the other decorative accents in our room, like the vintage rug and colorful art.
Okay, but possibly the best part is the price. This king size set comes with the quilt and shams for under $80, which I think is very reasonable considering how pricey bedding has gotten at other big retail stores. I usually spend well over $200 for good king size bedding these days, so I’m excited to have discovered this budget-friendly alternative to share with you.
Have you tried sleeping with just a quilt over your sheets during the warmer months of the year? Totally fine if you prefer using a comforter year-round, of course. I know this quilt would look beautiful folded up at the end of your bed on top of your everyday comforter. Or you could use it as a throw in your living room! So many possibilities…Let me know in the comments how you’d use it.
