Designing Around My Paisley Wallpaper

Wallpapered Dining Room Home Décor Mood Board

I’m back to talk more wallpaper with you! I started this particular series on my newsletter, Home Matters, where I explained how I would design around one of my wallpaper designs with Fancy Walls. Let’s take a closer look at my Tan Paisley Layne Botanical Wallpaper today. This one is a super special design because it’s based on the existing 1960s wallpaper that was already up in our home when we moved in. I wish we could leave the original paper untouched, but it’s starting to peel away from the wall in places, and the porous material it’s made of isn’t very cleanable, so it has a few dirty, discolored areas that I can’t do anything about. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be able to salvage it, so when I designed a collection with Fancy Walls, I made sure to include a pattern that takes direct inspiration from the mid-century design already in our home so I could eventually put that up in its place. I decided to blow the paisley-inspired motif up in scale to give the paper a slightly more contemporary edge, and absolutely love how it turned out. The mood board above shows how I’d love to use my Tan Paisley Layne Botanical in a modern, eclectic dining room design.

I love how the Tan Paisley Layne Botanical wallpaper gives this room a more traditional, classic feel, but that the sleek furniture (like that arched cabinet and dining table) help make the space still look a bit modern, too. Aside from my wallpaper, the art is probably my favorite thing in this collection, especially that floral print from Artfully Walls, and the striped rug option that I included is another standout piece for me. What’s your favorite thing in the mood board? Would you try this wallpapered dining room design out in your own home?
