Two Believable Faux Floor Plants To Consider

If you asked me to tell you what my very favorite home décor accent is, I’d have an immediate answer: plants! There’s not a single room in our home that doesn’t have at least one potted greenery moment in it because I think plants add such life and character to a space. If you’ve been following along for a while, then you know I’m perfectly fine admitting that I use both live and faux plants in our home décor. Some plants are just harder to keep alive than others, so buying fake versions is simply a wiser investment. They never die, and are completely maintenance-free, which I appreciate (I’m so sad whenever I fail to keep a plant alive). I also opt for artificial versions of trees that I know our three cats will be interested in chewing on. They never gnaw on plastic leaves! Let me tell you about the two latest additions to our faux plant collection.

I was invited last month to create some original video content featuring new artificial trees from the brand SHareconn for social media. They sent their 5-Foot Artificial Palm Tree and a 4-Foot Artificial Dracaena Tree. You can see the first video here on my Instagram and the second video here. I was genuinely so impressed with the quality of these plants, so I thought I’d put together a quick blog review even though it wasn’t part of that initial partnership.

The photos above show off our new Artificial Dracaena Tree. I think this one is my personal favorite of the two. The planter pot that it came in feels like a good proportion for the size of the plant above, and the leaves also look very realistic. I especially love the realism of the multiple trunks on this tree. They look and feel just like the live version, and the designers even thought to include the rust-colored parts toward the base of the leaves for a more realistic look. It’s also worth mentioning that it was very easy to assemble and bend the leaves to look more natural. I’m tempted to get more for other rooms in our home.

The 5-Foot Artificial Palm Tree that they sent ended up in our living room for this photoshoot. I’m really impressed with the life-like quality of the leaves and stems on this plant, too, and think it’s so neat that the designers took the extra time to perfect those brown fronds at the bases of the stems, just like you’d see on a live tree. My only complaint with this tree is that the white pot it came with is a tad small for the size of the plant. I’ve since moved this one down to my pottery studio since I don’t get much natural light in that space to keep real plants alive but really crave greenery there, but know that I upgraded its pot to something a little larger so it looks more proportionate and balanced.

I know it can be really hard to judge the life-like quality of faux plants just from photos in an online listing (especially since they tend to be Photoshopped), so I hope this more realistic “real life” review helps make you more confident in your investment. For what it’s worth, I would definitely buy both of these with my own money again—they’re that believable—and I think the prices are also pretty reasonable (the ones you see pictured in our home today cost $70-$80). Let me know which one is your favorite, and if you’re even open to using artificial plants at all in your space!
