Now Offering Custom Hand-Drawn Pet Portraits

Custom Hand-Drawn Miniature Pet Portraits

Did you hear the news? I’m officially offering custom hand-drawn pet portraits over in my Etsy shop! If you’re a newsletter subscriber, then you already got the full story behind this latest evolution of my creative brand last week, including insight into the very first moment I realized that portraiture was something special (click here to get caught up if you missed it). Today, I’ll try to be a little more succinct, and share just a few examples of my past work alongside links to this brand new listing in my shop.

The pet portrait that you see above was actually one of the main catalysts for me deciding to add portraits to my fine art offerings. Our vet, whom we adore practically like a member of our family, asked if I would be open to drawing something special for the Mosby Foundation, of which she’s on the board. It was my first time hearing about the foundation, but after doing some research here, I discovered that it was more than worthy of my volunteered time.

The ask was some kind of dog drawing that could be used on a T-shirt, so I chose a photo that I loved of my sister’s dog, drew it over the course of a week, and then digitalized it so I could put it in a T-shirt design through Canva. I kept the original drawing as a surprise for my sister, and everyone in my family now has their own Mosby Foundation tees with my drawing of Rory’s sweet face on it.

Seeing how happy that drawing made my sister proved just how special pet portraiture is. I’ve since gifted other pet drawings to people in my circle, and have enjoyed it more and more each time. It just felt like all of this was leading somewhere a little more formal, which is why I decided to launch this mini collection of custom drawings. I’m only opening it up to 10 orders for the winter/spring season so that I can ease myself into this new facet of my business. I may open more spots as time goes on, but for now, I’m feeling comfortable and very excited about what’s to come from this launch.

If you’d like more information or if you’d like to snap up one of these 10 spots, click over to Etsy here, and don’t forget to visit my Home Matters newsletter from last week where you’ll find an exclusive discount code just for the DGD community. Thanks so much for continuing to follow along with the organic flow of my brand (I do promise that home décor content isn’t going away from here, just so you know!), and I hope you’ll comment on today’s post telling me all about your pet just for fun. I want to know it all: names, favorite toys, quirky personality traits…Give me all the details.
