Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrated the holiday last week. John and I filled ourselves to the brim with delicious food (think: turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade dinner rolls, pie), and were so grateful (of course!) to spend lots of quality time with both of our families. Isn’t the holiday season just the best?!

Well, I’m ready to kick things off in real festive style this morning as I tumble right into the countdown to Christmas with a brand new collection of handmade ceramic ornaments. I actually started putting this collection together back in October, and even though I felt like I was jumping the gun a little bit starting them that early, I’m really glad I did because the ornaments took lots of careful detailing over the course of several weeks.

First, I cut the shapes, cleaned them up, and then laid them out between boards to dry. Then, I spent a couple of hours carving out designs on each one, and, later, came up with a plan for glazing them in my favorite earth-toned color combination. After that, it was just a matter of actually following through with my glazing and firing plans, then I added super strong leather hangers so that you guys can eventually loop them onto your Christmas trees. Phew! After all of that, I was ready to photograph them and list each and every one of the 22 ornaments in my Etsy shop for you to peruse.

See the full collection over on Etsy now, and feel free to let me know in the comments which one is your favorite. If you have requests for different shapes, quotes, or patterns, I’m always open to ideas, so shout them out below and I’ll hoard those requests for next season.

I couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to offer these exclusive holiday designs, and am even more excited to see where they end up this Christmas. I hope you’ll share a photo or two on social media if you decide to add one to your own tree next month!

Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I feel like I have full license to turn on the Christmastime charm, and I’m kicking things off with a brand new holiday project for Hunker: DIY Paper Christmas Trees. These colorful bendable cuties take just 20 minutes to make thanks to a printable template that I included in the full tutorial here, and the best part (at least I think so) is that they store flat when the holiday season is in “hibernation.” Just fold them at their cross sections, slip them into a sturdy folder, and then hide them away in a box with the rest of your Christmas décor.

Visit Hunker for the full step-by-step tutorial, including that Christmas tree printable I mentioned, which, honestly, takes at least half of the time and hassle out of this project. Of course, I can’t take much credit for that time-saving tool—whoever invented printable PDFs is my favorite human.

Speaking of favorite humans, I’m headed out of the office this afternoon to spend the rest of the holiday week and weekend with family, so I’m going to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you’re celebrating) and I’ll see you first thing Monday morning—cheers!
