This Week on eHow: DIY Wire Photo Display

Wire-Photo-Display-eHow-09

My sister and I are always trying to come up with inventive gift ideas for our parents, even planning out next year’s Christmas presents by the time New Years rolls around. But despite a constant running list of things to BUY mom and dad, we’ve discovered over the years that sometimes the biggest eye-lit moments came from simple handmade gifts that didn’t cost us a dime. Case in point, this year’s DIY mother’s day gift—an easy to make wire photo display that shows off some of our favorite family moments. Get the how-to on eHow right here!

DIY Gold Embellished Frame // With Oh My Darlings

photo 2

I’m thrilled to welcome Cassidy June, of O My Darlings, to the blog this morning! She and I have connected through our collective work with Glitter Guide and consequently devised a fun exchange centered on gold spray paint. You can see my mid-century inspired take on this go-to DIY supply over on Cassidy’s blog right here, and keep scrolling for her tutorial on a pretty embellished frame.

I’m so excited to be sharing this project on Dream Green DIY! I had this fun print collab with Bonnie Joy launching today, and thought I would upcycle an old Michael’s frame I had laying around. It was really easy to create. Using some painters tape I created the design I wanted and protected the rest of the frame with cardboard and tape. Then I had my husband spray paint it gold (since I’m pregnant and didn’t want to breathe in the fumes).

After that was done, and the paint was dry, I removed all the tape. I was really happy with the design! Then I got my daughter to help me pick out faux flowers and place them on the frame where she thought they would go well. I used the hot glue gun on the flowers and some gold and silver giant sequins. I am super happy with how it turned it, and it was so fun to do with my daughter!
