When it comes to mid-century, of course nothing can top an authentic antique. Whether we’re talking furniture, lighting, or even linens, I will always choose “real” over “reproduced.” Yet, that said, actually affording the real deal is often out of reach. Sometimes I have to make do with a budget-friendly reproduction in order to save and save (and then save some more!) for a true antique later on down the road. I don’t really mind—after all, the hunt is half the fun.

So when I caught sight of a cool geometric mid-century print on eBay the other day, the wheels in my head couldn’t help but start turning: “How can I get the look without shelling out all that cash up front?” The results? My handmade DIY Mid-Century Inspired Paint Chip Wall Art Print for eHow. This piece of colorful, shapely art took only about 20 minutes to put together, and since I had all of the supplies on hand and the paint chips cost $0.00 at the hardware store, it was entirely free to make!
