Oh, summer time…Right now is when we need to be indulging our instincts for wandering the coastline and getting lost on pretty mountain roads, dappled sun warming our faces and backs. It’s practically a requirement this time of year to go out on weekly adventures and to soak up that laid back vibe for as long as we can.

It seems like enjoying those types of moments gets more and more difficult as we get older, but I’m trying so hard this year to give in. I’m testing out my (admittedly rusty) spontaneity and going to different restaurants with John, adventuring to new-to-me antique stores by myself, and experimenting with seasonal food that I’ve never tried before. It doesn’t sound all that exciting to those of you who globe-trot the world, but for this shy introvert, tiny little moments like these are all I need to feel a deep sense of accomplishment.

I know I sound like a broken record, but as you know, I’m not a big traveler, so I like to keep things simple and I tend to smell the roses closer to home. Because of that fact, I love to add global touches to our home to offer a peek into what’s happening beyond our state line. We just added a new piece of art to our dining room that does exactly that, and I thought I’d give you a couple of close-ups in the off chance that it inspires a little wanderlust in your own life this sleepy Monday morning.

Our new landscape print came to us from The Citizenry, and it’s one of those statement pieces of art that immediately grabs your attention. It showed up late last Thursday, and after testing it out in a few different rooms, I ultimately decided that the dining room was the perfect spot. You may remember that we added a large scale photo of Paris to the other side of the dining room earlier this year, so this new dessert portrait feels like a nice complement to our now-travel-themed space.

It’s a simple change, but a striking and inspiring one. As soon as John walked in from work that Thursday afternoon, he spotted it and commented on it. We love the earthy palette and the fact that, if you take a closer look, you’ll see a little motorcyclist careening over the rolling hills. My favorite type of art is anything that makes you take a closer look, and this one definitely checks that box.

The Citizenry just recently launched an entire collection of travel art, so be sure to take a closer look at those on their site today. Which one would you add to your home this summer season?
