Life in our new (ish) house finally feels like it has settled into a natural groove. We’ve got our routines down pat, and we’ve made some pretty major changes to the rooms lately to make them fit our day-to-day lives much better. I know I’ve talked here on the blog about how John and I have been rearranging furniture to make it fit this house better, and how we’ve also decided to let a few pieces go that worked well at our old place but not so well in this new one. It has been a really great exercise in problem solving, and each change we make feels like we’re one step closer to getting things juuuuuuuuust right.

Since selling some of our old furniture, we had a few “holes” to fill in our collection. When I started researching pieces that would suit the evolving design of our new home, the very first website that I checked out was Article. We’ve used Article furniture for years and years, and I have to say…It’s my personal favorite. The bed frames, dressers, chairs, etc. that we’ve ordered from Article are all so solidly constructed, and require minimal assembly (usually it’s just a matter of screwing on a few furniture legs). The sofas have lasted us for years, even with multiple pets and humans lounging on them every single day, the dressers and consoles add tons of sophisticated style to the rooms we’ve placed them in, and the chairs have all been oh-so-comfy. Remember when we outfitted our main bedroom with all new Article furniture right when we moved in? Well, those four pieces are all still exactly where we placed them seven months ago, and we don’t have any plans to change them!

Anyway, point being, we’re big fans of Article, and so when it came time to order a few new items for our kitchen and backyard, Article was an easy choice. We’ve long trusted their pieces for our indoor spaces, but their outdoor lounging options really excel at combining style and comfort, too. Keep scrolling to see more photos of everything we chose, plus links and my review.

Aeri Chairs and Solina Stool

First up is our new backyard seating area. One of the things that really sold me on our new house when we toured it for the first time was the big backyard. It has tons of room for our rescue pup to run around in, and there are a couple of small trees that I love to sit beneath with a glass of wine and a good book. I have really enjoyed having this space as an extension of our living room this spring and summer, but the plastic Adirondack chairs we used to have in the yard weren’t very comfortable or nice to look at either.

So, we upgraded to a pair of Aeri Chairs and a Solina Stool from Article. The cushions on the chairs are so easy to sink into on a sunny day, and the woven rattan-style texture of the frame cocoons you in a way that makes you want to curl up for hours. The small terrazzo-inspired patterned stool is great to use for extra seating, as needed, and also doubles as a place to rest my glass of wine when I’m lounging by myself or just with John. The setup adds so much style to our backyard and makes it feel even more inviting than it already was.

Nosh Counter Stools

Next up is a little kitchen upgrade. Since refinishing our kitchen cabinets last month, I felt like we needed some new stools to really celebrate the occasion. The old swivel stools I had in the space before were a little too small for our peninsula bar countertop, but this pair of new Nosh Counter Stools from Article are the perfect fit. The scale feels just right for the space now, and there’s plenty of room for all of us to perch comfortably while watching John cook or scarfing down a quick lunch. The cats are enjoying the new stools, too, which is sweet to see!

I love how the dark wood frame offers some nice contrast in this light space, and the darker tone also nods to the aged brass hinges in our retro kitchen and the original mid-century stove hood, which you can see here. I’m sure you noticed how the creamy gray color of the tweed-like upholstery nicely complements our newly painted cabinets, right? These stools are the ideal finishing touch for our kitchen makeover.

It’s amazing the difference a few very carefully chosen pieces of furniture can make in a space. The kitchen and backyard both felt a little “off” before, but now they look and function so much better. What do you have on your wishlist from Article’s collection? I’d love to hear your picks, and am happy to offer my honest reviews, if needed.
